another lesson: the UK does not matter

because nobody else in the world cares who won the UK elections. because the UK is immaterial in terms of its global clout.

Well, it matters for EU-Brexit issues - even though Merkel has said EU accepts the Brexit vote, and wishes Britain's departure to be swift and orderly, the latest Tory debacle could throw a wrench in that. Also, the Trump administration is looking toward the UK to rekindle Anglo-Americanism as the cornerstone for US foreign policy. A divided UK may mean the balance of power is shifted back towards Brussels again.
