China takes supercomputing crown

Tianhe-2, with 3.12 million processor cores is the new leader of the twice-yearly list of the world's 500 fastest supercomputers. "Most of the features of the system were developed in China, and they are only using Intel for the main compute part. The interconnect, operating system, front-end processors, and software are mainly Chinese."
