Wind Farms Come Under Scrutiny

At one time, farmers in Maharashtra were blaming wind farms for disrupting rains.
Researchers at the SUNY-Albany analysed the satellite data of areas around large wind farms in Texas, where four of the world's largest farms are located, over the period 2003 to 2011.

The results, published in the journal Nature Climate Change, showed a warming trend of up to 0.72 degrees Celsius per decade in areas over the farms, compared with nearby regions without the farms.

MORE TAXPAYER $$$ REQUIRED! WHO KNEW?

Excerpts:

Researchers at the State University of...

...

The authors of the study released on Sunday said: "Given the present installed (wind farm) capacity and the projected installation across the world, this study draws attention to an important issue that requires further investigation."

...

"We need to better understand the system with observations and better describe and model the complex processes involved to predict how wind farms may affect future weather and climate."

Most Indians came to the US for these very Universities. Without them, America would be in the same league as Sudan and Haiti.

Inferno,

That is untrue. The fad with universities is a 20th century phenomenon. America is what it is because of a relatively freer economy than other countries (apart from some unfair international laws on the international reserve currency skewed in its favor).

Universities were not the drivers of innovation. Sure if the government takes taxpayer money and gives it to universities, many entrepreneurs are going to flock there as well, but they cannot be blamed for this as they did not build the system of handouts.

Don't attribute the success that occurred despite the system to the system that came later to reap some of the successes created by others.

This "study" on the heat generated by windmills is a complete waste of money and a useless one.

The uncomfortable part for the supporters of frivolous studies is that more people have entered the US for jobs than for "studies." Translation: US imports doctors from India and these doctors have MBBS degrees from India which are good enough for jobs in USA. Indian courses in computer programming is good enough to work in the tech sector.
