kochi has been pushing propaganda kochi=kerala. it has worked. kozhikode-bound plane lands in kochi.

jan 17th, 2012 CE

much like hans push propaganda that asian == chinese, kochi has been pushing the notion that kerala == kochi.

unfortunately, it seems to have worked.

next, kochi will claim that chennai == kochi. and then bangalore == kochi.

also, there are too many airports in kerala, a tiny state. it only really needed one, which was the existing airport in trivandrum that had been around since the 1930s. but no, the 'lobbies' (we know who they are) wanted to build more. in addition to trivandrum, kochi and kozhikode, new airports are coming up in kannur and aranmula.

the aranmula airport is a simple excuse for a land grab. i don't know much about kannur airport. but generally the result is (extremely valuable) land ends up in the hand of some big developers and other friends of politicians.

I think the more airports we have the merrier. plus, they are kerala's lifeblood to send warm bodies to the holy land so that the remittances back (financial and others) can remain on schedule.

Its all economics -- maybe we should call airports in kerala the "amartyan exchange" send bodies, get dollars.
