It is about cars. It is about money. But is it a sport?

You are a spectator. You remain a spectator. You and I can never participate in it at any level, unlike soccer or cricket or basketball. F1: the pathetic joke that calls itself a sport.

Hosting F1 race is waste of money: PT Usha

"I feel very bad because such hi-fi business has nothing to do with 99% of Indians. It is a criminal waste (of money). First, Twenty20 cricket spoiled the spirit of Indian sports, and now here comes another avatar which will mostly attract corporate money, who (Corporate) rarely spend for sports promotion. Only God can save the Indian sports," Usha said.

"Till this date I have never and I don't want to follow any motor business, which I do not want to call as sport," said Usha who now runs an athletics academy in her home state of Kerala.

Top shooter Gagan Narang said:
"Let's face it that the sport is not for everyone. Only people with money will have the access. It has to be marketed well.," Narang said.

Cricket commentator David Lloyd aptly described F1 as "cars going round and round wasting petrol.."

Inferno, you can do some rash driving on the road to get the feel of F1. Oh wait...that's only for film stars

Nonsense, racing is competition, and as such it will give rise to innovations and technology in pursuit of the prize. From the ranks of these F1 engineers can come all sorts of new ideas and inventions. A business is a business, and if it provides employment and revenue, then why turn it down?

F1 racing is a complete waste of resources - it is hardly a sport. horse racing is sport (at least for the horse) - not this extremely stupid thing. Much as I dislike Mayawati's Statue-geddon - I would rather see money wasted in some such colorful fashion. At least it makes a section of our people assert some pride !!!

Replace the term F1 with shampoos, mobile phones and laptops.
Then how wasteful it is will become very stark...

If garbage like cricket is a "sport" and if a billion idiots want to waste their time watching it, then why can't a few others watch a different sort of garbage?

Also I am pretty sure this F1 stuff takes more skill than cricket (I am not a fan of either).

How about Hindu men learn to take part in mallakrIda like their ancestors or Boxing or MMA or Thai Boxing?

If we were going to adopt something from our colonizers, then why not a more worthy sport like Rugby?
