a male version of barbara crossette: bigotry towards india sells, no?

aug 22nd, 2010

bloody indians, how dare they be mired in THEIR self-interest, not in AMERICA's interest (just like pakistan shows us all how to behave in america's interest)!

and this gentleman, alas, is at my alma mater, stanford, and has a pulitzer prize to boot.

not knowing anything about india, and having a visceral, blinding hatred for india, has never stopped the former NYT correspondent barbara crossette from vomiting reams of garbage about india.

apparently joel brinkley has decided to join the crowd. why not, you can't dump on the hans -- the chinese will blacklist you. you can't dump on pakistanis, for obvious reasons. the russians, yes, they are still good for a bit of fun. but if you dump on indians, you get magsaysay prizes, as demonstrated by all the recent winners such as sandeep pandey. and the indian government and the UPA will become your toadies, as demonstrated by that half-baked 'historian' and full-fledged idiot, william dalrymple, not to mention all the 'eminent historians' of the JNU starting with romila thapar.

welcome to the hate-india club, brinkley. your tribe will increase regularly.

what is it about the NYT? is it a nursery for raising anti-india correspondents? the last decent one was stephen weisman a few years ago, although lydia polgreen is not that bad. i suspect it is the Democratic Party virus that infects the NYT's editorial attitude towards india and encourages it to patronize prize charlatans like pankaj mishra. these liberals secretly love dictatorships and the frisson of authoritarian totalitarianism.
