india's fleet has stagnated while china's has quadrupled. why not mothball our existing ships too?

aug 31st, 2010

china apparently has more warships than the US now.

india does not an army, only a police force, said a wise man once. so true. if we're going to be a chinese colony, why, they'll take care of having us protected by the People's Enslavement Army Navy, oops People's Liberation Army Navy.

No assessment, no vision, no strategic initiative, especially with the UPA in power.
Hardly any of our armaments are made in India; our shipyards languish due to political indifference and labour problems.
Last year, an India Naval ship was threatened by a Chinese warship in the Gulf of Aden.

I would say, the Americans are no apostles of disarmament. At the risk of being completely wrong, Regardless of the exponential military and strategic advancement of the PLA, the US does hold the edge over PLA in military technology, owing to military R & D by the US much before the Chinese started consolidating theirs. (I do not have the necessary figures to accurately argue the case)

Rajeev, how long will it be before the Chinese start aggressive posturing and incursions at the border and regarding Kashmir as well with the overt help of the pakis?

The Chinese "pearl necklace" is really choking India and what could stop China in its tracks from achieving this end, is, for the moment, not clear. (at least to me).

Do we have to run to the international audience with a hat in hand for military intervention against the Chinese, if the situation were to turn dire, considering the namby-pamby state that we are? Will the armed forces recover from another 1962? How far does it make sense to say "India is a vastly improved military force compared to 62 ?" (the exception being a few nuclear warheads).
