john c dvorak: an ipad-killer from, uh, india?

feb 26th, 2010

the key for adam is going to be the ecosystem, especially its ability to get the media guys on board. otherwise apple will walk off with the prize.

after all, creative labs had a better mp3 player (the hardware part) before the ipod came out and wiped the floor with it on the strength of itunes.

but it's definitely good to see hardware designs coming out from india. it's important to build products rather than do the services thing forever.

it would be best for notion ink to tie up with some big marketing company, possibly google itself, in fact try and get to be acquired by them.

Tegra + Pixel Qi = winner tablet.

I don't mind paying same price as iPad as long as they live up to the expectations. Hope they won't cut corners.

There seems to be another worthy opponent to iPad from the Indian stable: joojoo. Check out www.thejoojoo.com.

Its a shame the article does not say much about the product but goes on and on about Nvidia. The article title itself shows the disdain with which the world holds Indian capability in technology. We are better known as 'cyber coolies'. Products is the way forward because real people use it at homes and show it to their friends and thus the image is built. Stop giving away the idols and image of Ganesha as a gift. One, they dont understand the significance of Ganesha and see him as a good luck charm and belittles our Gods. Two, they see it as the only product India can make, exotic looking idols.

Slate Showdown

We are witnessing a real alternative to WINTEL, something that was discussed for a longtime but failed time and again.

Android is doing what Linux could not do (not that it is entirely different). Thank you, Google.
