shows how much heart they have, both aussies and limeys. if they do this to their own children, imagine how mean they were to the poor aborigine children whom they took away from their parents and deracinated them and made them hate their own ancestry and culture.
and also a reminder of white racism, as if we needed any: they were looking to populate convict-land with "fine sturdy white stock".
