advani bares fangs: jaswant expelled

it is not necessary to agree with jaswant’s book to see through the cussedness with which advani has expelled him from the party. Even the pioneer notes that party protocol was not followed. Of course – it is each party’s discretion as to who will be their members. The point is not that you cannot expel people – but in this case, it is so transparently a power spat.

First vasundhara and now jaswant. LKA is aping indira gandhi – both in his intentions of exercising complete control over the party, and soon over the results i.e. probable disintegration and break-up of the party. With the LKA and Rajnath duo in action - I am reminded of Macbeth

“Macb. 'Tis better thee without, then he within.
Is he dispatch'd?
Mur. My Lord his throat is cut, that I did for him”

This also explains why the RSS-Shakha types are destined to fail. If properly read (and I have not read it yet!) – this book could have been a searing indictment of the Congress of the 40’s – its opportunism, its failed record of dealing with Muslim separatism, and its ‘towering’ leaders – all men of clay. But the shakha-wallah is too intellectually lazy and politically cowardly to take on that project. As I have noted before – their only ambition is to be recognized as certifiably secular.

P.S - I have never trusted the ELM to do their reporting fairly – but if this is true – it is sad to see Modi’s government coming down with a hammer on a book. Why don’t they simply write their own book?

I will wait to see how an NRI-pitying journalist explains this blow from his heroes!

This is absolutely senseless. Everyone in BJP knew about this book and Jaswant's views on Jinnah. He had agreed to postpone the release for them. Probably Advani thought that he was going to be PM and he would care less on what Jaswant had to say about Jinnah..
And now, expelling him without proper procedure.. BJP is now truly congressized.
Advani, a Jinnah fan, expelling Jaswant.. ironic.

I totally disagree with the comments in this blog. Every political leader has to act within the ideological boundaries set by party. Certain fouls get you a yellow card, some will get you a Red card. By saying Jinnah was great, jaswanth crossed the laxman rekha and he paid the price. I cannot see how BJP would have lived with person in their midst who things Jinnah was great.

And no I am nopt a BJP worker.

My point was that BJP didn't came to know this just yesterday.. If it is about principles, they should have stopped him from writing the book.. or expelled him when they came to know about it..

@ Concerned Indian,
And no I am nopt a BJP worker.

neither am I - however, Jaswant is not the first to call Jinnah great. Advani put that down in writing at the visitor book on Minar-e-Pakistan (and not in any ordinary book). Where were the limits of ideology then?

the reality of the BJP is that the principle is based on which personality screws up. there is no ideology and principle except Stalinism

shocked to see the name of RSS and shaka wallah's in Jaswant's expulsion.

Sri Sirsangha chalakji almost openly said in his Times Now interview that even Advani and other second level leaders should go giving way to the younger generation.

Sad to see you also repeat what the media ingeminate to germinate.
