budget should put paid to any claims that manmohan singh is a 'liberal' 'economist'

jul 6th, 2009

we have been hearing a lot about manmohan singh as the 'father' of liberalization.

now it turns out that this is like joseph being the 'father' of the alleged jesus. nice story, hard to believe.

manmohan was, is and will be, an unreconstructed socialist and nehruvian stalinist.

he was one in his early days. then came the liberalization. if is now clear that he was merely a convenient mask that narasimha rao used to push the agenda. rao was the liberalizer, the brains behind the operation; manmohan as usual was 'his master's voice'.

it was claimed that in manmohan singh I, it was the baleful influence of the communists that prevented him from doing things that would get the state out of way.

now that the UPA has a (forged) majority of its own, and you don't have the communists to kick around any more (apologies to nixon), what does the UPA do?

yes, virginia, yet another loser's budget, whose main points are:

a. fiscal deficit shoots up beyond the 15% it is already at (so, boys and girls, expect crushing inflation down the road). compare this to the target 5%

b. more and more money thrown at boondoggle pork-barrel schemes like the national rural employment guarantee scheme (which, if there were truth in advertising, should be called the 'national party cadre employment guarantee scheme')

c. the printing presses will be busy churning out rupees out of thin air. (that is, both india's and pakistan's presses: yet another container-load of pakistani-made rupees, shipped via dubai, was found in the port of cochin -- the jihadis' own port -- yesterday).

no wonder the sensex tanked by 900 points.

manmohan singh would not recognize liberalism if it were presented to him on a plate with watercress around it. there is not a single liberal bone in his body (if, in fact, there are any bones).

Congress and its dynasty sycophants in the media deliberately poppped MMS and pulled down late Prime minister PVNR. MMS can do no wrong in spite of the fact that the last govt was the most corrupt in recent memory as demonstrated by inimitble Shourie.

Where as MMS can do no wrong PVNR could do nothing right. It was PVNR who took the difficult decision of mortgaging India's Gold and secure IMF loans rather than defaulting on its external debt obligations. India defaulting on its debt obligations would have had disastrous consequences for the nation. In other words PVNR is the architect of reforms which liberalized Indian economy and set it on the right path.

As planning commission chairman during Rajiv Gandhi days, MMS had come up with a high spending socialist plan.

Did anyone else too notice that current stupid economic policy of CONs in India are VERY VERY similar to US politicians who are almost always acting on behalf of this or that campaign donor.

Whatever happens this is sure : We all are going to face disastrous inflation in our lifetime both in US and in godforsaken country of india where foreigners still rule.
