how hard it is for the 'secular' kashmiris to allow a hindu to speak there

the goi's writ does not run in jammu and kashmir. it is purely a mohammedan territory, as the mohammedans keep making clear.

similarly, the goi's writ does not run is several states that the communists hold to ransom. the banned "maoists" [sic, as they are actually christists] held a bandh in five states! they are turning these into no-go areas for the police and the army.

reminds me of the terrifying wb yeats poem, the second coming:

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

yes, verily, the center cannot hold. this nation is on its way to dissolution. it is doomed. thanks, manmohan.

actually, this poem, although it is supposed to be about the second coming of jesus (a little much when there was no *first* coming, but anyway), it really is a metaphor for the arrival of kalki, the destroyer.

yup, the imagery is all about the bloody desert (the bleeding holy land [sic]), and it is there that the ultimate destruction is going to come from. as it has, always -- the middle east is where death and destruction has always originated from, ever since the first semitic thoughts of intolerance were uttered.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Interesting.

It may appear cynical.

But interesting.

"it really is a metaphor for the arrival of kalki, the destroyer."
