sonofusion: was Taleyarkhan unfairly maligned?

mar 29th, 2009

rustom taleyarkhan is from mumbai and is an IIT madras alumnus.

now it is even more murky: does sonofusion work? are the allegations about taleyarkhan false? is this an example of professional jealousy? the secretary testimony certainly is damning about the department head.

if the department head was not guilty, why did he settle with taleyarkhan?

does this mean -- especially as cold fusion is showing signs of revival -- that sonofusion is also not discredited?

I think that the new development in this case leaves little room for doubt: the allegations against Taleyarkhan were false.

Think about it:

At the time, the then-dept head (by name, Tsoukalas, who started this whole mess) was a Purdue *Administrator*. He therefore represents Purdue University at the NE (Nuclear Engr.) level. They (Purdue) could not come straight out and acknowledge that the dept head was wrong--considering the severity of libel/slander committed by Tsoukalas et al., this would give Taleyarkhan a huge advantage in court.

So what does Purdue do? To keep Tsoukalas from causing more damage, they promptly remove him from his position by forcing him to resign, THEN they make sure he's out of the way by sending him off on a sabbatical to his native Greece--that move, so soon after the allegations were made public, brought suspicion to the case.

This plus the secretary's damning testimony (the contents by themselves should have been enough to keep Tsoukalas and the rest of the 'mafia' (as they were referred to in the secretary's testimony) out of academia/science fields permanently.

By the way, circulating are quite a few other published affidavits from other members of the NE dept at Purdue.--ALL equally damning to Purdue's case.

Seems the old saying is true: You can't hide from the truth. And Purdue is running out of places to hide.
