Conditions Attached by US Congress Sink 123 Deal

It may now be no longer possible for India to sign the 123 Deal, because of the extra conditions attached by the US Congress. These conditions are explicit language that requires the US not just to cut off supplies, but also to disrupt the nuclear waiver, which was not previously the case before. India can still go forward with its plans to negotiate reactor deals with France and Russia, which aren't bound by any similar conditions.

Who says that India can not sign the nuclear deal in its present form? UPA or the powers behind it have long ago decided that a deal has to be signed, come what may and thanks to many Jayachandras we have truly arrived at this stage of sealing the seal.

It is heartening at last to know that BJP intends to review the deal, once they are in a position to do so. After a long deafening silence, BJP (Venkaiah Naidu) said so. (hopefully it's not a lone voice) I hope that they will come back to power and do whatever is required to unchain India from US' stranglehold. Anyway, by then, many a contracts for the purchase of nuclear reactors will have been signed and .....

US "Houses" and Indian "Sabhas"
Apparently, under US Law the deal will not be valid unless the House of Representatives and the Senate pass it -- after a discussion. If either House rejects it, the US President will not be able to overrule the Houses.
Compare it with what happened in the biggest democracy of the world, "India that is Bharat." The UPA "government" (in quotes, because there seems to be no government in place) decided that it is not necessary to discuss it in Parliament. Obviously, the UPA has nothing but contempt for the Parliament and for the Constitution.

Shashi Tharoor is an idiot. (Sorry Rajeev. But I have to say this.)

Chitrakut,
I couldn't resist posting this:

“Idiot: A member of a large and powerful tribe whose influence in human affairs has always been dominant and controlling. The idiot’s activity is not confined to any special field of thought or action, but “pervades and regulates the whole”. He has the last word in everything; his decision is unappealable. He sets the fashions of opinion and taste, dictates the limitations of speech and circumscribes conduct with a dead-line. [The Devil’s Dictionary. Ambrose Bierce]”

Now you know why people like Tharoor are so successful.

Tharoor in the aforementioned article: Christianity arrived on Indian soil with St Thomas the Apostle ('Doubting Thomas'), who came to the Kerala coast some time before 52 AD and was welcomed on shore by a flute-playing Jewish girl. He made many converts, so there are Indians today whose ancestors were Christian well before any European discovered Christianity (and before the forebears of many of today's Hindu chauvinists were even conscious of themselves as Hindus).

I concur with Chitrakut!
