Breakthrough: Stem Cells from Skin Cells

If you haven't heard about this breakthrough, then you must not read any news at all. Human skin cells have been used to make stem cells. As a result of the insertion of 4 genes, skin cells were rebooted into pluripotent stem cells capable of forming a variety of new tissues.
This is an incredible leap forward for regenerative medicine, and will no doubt spawn a flurry of activity. The dream of replacing worn out body parts when they get old may be possible within our lifetimes.
