While the VHP person from Uttar Pradesh may have issued a statement in reaction to
vulgar rhetoric by Karunanidhi & Baalu, the actual violence is being committed by the DMK cadre. I have my suspicions that the incidents in Karnataka were the work of
Deve Gowda's men - to avoid transfer of power to the BJP.

Indian democracy is a farce. It means
rule of the muslims/by the muslims/for the muslims
rule of the christists/by the christists/for the christists
rule of the marxists/by the marxists/for the marxists
rule of the dravidians/by the dravidians/for the dravidians
I despair that the dravidians will incite a "North Indian vs South Indian" conflict
or a "Tamil vs Kannada" conflict or "Tamil vs others" conflict.
This is bad for unity of Hindus and India.

With "leaders" like Karunanidhi and Balu..India does not need enemies...They are a blot on the fair name of the ancient culture of the land..
These guys revel in such barbaric display of political power and have been doing so for the last 50 years...

The lynchpin of the "dravidians" is anti-Brahminism, not atheism or rationalism. On Goebellian principles, they keep repeating the lie that Brahmins were and are great oppressors of all others. The truth in Tamil Nadu has been that Mudaliars, Chettiars, etc are the biggest tyrants and slave-drivers.
During the last fifty years or so, the "dravidian" parties have done quite a bit of something similar to "ethnic cleansing" and have driven out most of the brahmins from the state.
Please note the usage of the word "fatwa" in all the ELM. This is a clever ploy to equate Hinduism with Islam.

your fears are not unfounded..but I cannot imagine citizens of TN throwiing themselves in front of guns to get Rama Sethu cleared - like they did in the Anti-Hindu agitation...

This equating Hinduism with Islam has been going for a while in India in the name of "secularism" .
For centuries Hindus have been brutally oppressed and suddenly our "coconut media ppl "( white guys in brown skin) find convoluted logic to say Islam and Hindus are the same..
God forbid if any Indian leader had said a word questioning the authenticity of Allah or anything.. India would have been on fire and article 365 clamped on the govt..
All that Hindus did were to protest in a peaceful manner this blasphemous (and historially incorrect) comment by 80 year old "leader". Calling Lord Rama "non existent" ," drunkard", " which engineering college he came from" should have evoked a much sterner response from Indians.. alas..that never happens..
My only hope from this mess is that BJP gains some strength and credibility.. I hope whiners and losers like L.Ganesan (the BJP guy in TN) to be shunted out to be replaced with some one with some street cred.. TN is gasping for some change..Its time for this sorry chapter in TN and India's political history to end.

These so-called charismatic politicians thrive on backwardness. People are promised the moon and a significant number of the dumb masses get swayed to swing the vote. This masked guy, who was once accused of hobnobbing with the LTTE, and at another time accused by Rajiv Gandhi's widow of engineering the murder of RG, belongs to this cadre. genuine progress and education spell finis for them. Right now this Karunanidhi character has parcelled out quotas with a vengeance to give all non-brahmin castes a bogus feeling of well-being. Anyhow, the systematic persecution of tamil brahmins for the last half a century or more has only driven them to excell elsewhere.
