India's Space Ambitions Soar

ISRO is picking up the pace in pursuit of loftier and grander achievements. The Avatar project for a flyback scramjet booster is certainly one of their more ambitious goals. It remains to be seen how things will pan out, though.

But now ISRO is even setting up their own training programs to cultivate the necessary talent for the growing space program.

Nice post!!

Oh ISRO seems to be doing way too many things correctly. Please wait for another 123456 treaty b/w India and US over space research and exploration shortly!! :-)

An interesting peek into other technologies ( interestingly called 'Durga', 'Kali') India's scientists are working on.

'Avatar' might be our ticket to futuristic space based defense systems..

Harish,

The Indian hyperplane & space based missile defense system are fascinating ideas.

India has the technological base and the talent to develop any futuristic weapon system.
India's march to self-sufficiency in defense technology cannot be stopped by anything, except for the dhimmitude of the political leadership.

What India needs is a strong Central government led by statesmen like Vajpayee,
P.V Narasimha Rao or Indira Gandhi, which will discreetly nurture research & development of such force multipliers, while carrying on negotiations with the world.

And such a government would have the will to use these weapons for India’s defense, if need be.

The present GOI sadly lacks both the vision and the testosterone for such action.
Uber dhimmi MMS epitomizes this syndrome by his statements regarding:
Siachen glacier - “Peace Mountain”
LOC/International border - “Line of Peace”

With dhimmocrats like MMS, any weapon system such as this will remain a
Showpiece, a technology demonstrator, “a weapon of peace” to deliver
Bouquets to Rawalpindi………
