and no, onam is not a 'kerala' festival, it's a hindu festival. hardly any mohammedans or christists subscribe to the mahabali story, and that is the basis for onam.
Rajeev, The thing that really worries me is the political clout that this televangelists have in Al-Amreeca. Nobody in the Indian press focusses on how 'secular' American voting patterns are becoming and the clout of the White Evangelicals in the administration. Even John McCain has had to genuflect to these people (after having famously called Falwell an "agent of intolerance" in 2000) This is the next "big stick" these folks will use to beat India down with. They have already created an Office of Interrligious Freedom to issue an annual report (whipping!) on freedom of religions . I predict in another 5-10 years you will be seeing documentaries on how "evil Hindus" in India are stopping the "work of our lord", and even the liberal media in America (NYT, CNN etc.) will swallow it whole - with 'secular' experts from India filling in!!!!
