the usual pabulum from the NYT on the bombay blasts

july 12th, 2006

this kind of kumbaya-singing is ridiculous; the need of the hour is to inflict some serious pain on the perpetrators (in particular pakistan) so that this sort of thing is not repeated.

but of course, won't that affect the 'piss process' which is presumably highly lucrative for all sorts of people? and whatever will duryodhan(a) singh do if some people exhibited a backbone? santham, papam, siva, siva! unthinkable!

when white people died in the us on 9/11, the nytimes was notably less into 'forgive and forget',
and there were far fewer platitudes mouthed. no prizes for guessing why.

it's as sandhya jain said in a recent article: the us is looking to contain india in all possible ways, including with the apparent christist prachanda in nepal and the christist velupillai prabhakaran in sri lanka being favorite recipients of arms from them, along with the headhunter-turned-christists in nagaland.

by the way, the deafening silence from teesta setalvad and shabana azmi and kamala suraiyya are to be noted. also from shah rukh khan, mahesh bhatt, et al.

but i'm sure teesta will be back in form with a gratuitous piece of advice, insisting that nobody talk about mohammedan terrorists. see her previous classic when ayodhya was bombed:

but you mustn't call them terrorists in case you hurt their fragile feelings!

One solution -- which you won't see discussed in the media nor followed by the 'brave' Israelis and Americans is to tell the Saudis that they have one week to bring their Paki dogs under control.

If they don't, the Indians will actively work with the Iranians to bring Mecca and Medina back under Shia rule.

LeT, Mushraff, ISI would most likely wither in a few weeks it wasn't for the succor of Wahabi funding.

I somehow don't see Manmohan Singh or Sonia Gandhi doing any of this however.

"it's as sandhya jain said in a recent article: the us is looking to contain india in all possible ways," -- Consider things from an American perspective. India may not yet be an islamic state, but is there any guarantee that it will remain so in distant future? Afganistan was a Hindu place once, so were Indonesia and adjoining places. So was the land that belongs to Pakistan, Bangla Desh, and Kashmir. What about India?

It is true that Hindus are liberal, and that a Hindu-majority India would hardly be a threat to US or any developed country. But, and this is a big BUT, does the world see it that way?

Most of the Indian political parties keep pandering to the Islamic interests. Indian voters have never shown any resolve to contain islamic radicals. Even the parties and organisations that are supposedly 'Hindu Fundamentalists' started wooing muslims when 2004 elections approached.

My sincere view is that India does not evoke such a confidence and that, to my mind, is the sole reason America-and other developed nations act to contain India.

"My sincere view is that India does not evoke such a confidence" - this is not right.
US pushing xtian missionaries is deliberately pushing us into the hands of the Muslims.
US has never been known to think long term - you are projecting your own thinking onto the US
A country that keeps troops in Iraq to build democracy has rulers who have NO CLUE about the outside world
