tragedy in indonesia

may 29th

i have been watching the TV reports about the devastation wrought upon java. i mourn the 5,000 dead, and also the cultural destruction.

jogjakarta is the cultural center of indonesia. borobodur and prambanan are in the vicinity and these are the great buddhist and hindu temples of java, respectively. i have been to both. borobudur is squat, massive and powerful. prambanan is tall, delicate and slender. or was. i think the major temple there, the shiva temple, which was the only one among the trimurti temples that was still more or less intact. there used to be 'ramayana ballet' performances under floodlights on every full moon night at prambanan.

like angkor wat, prambanan is also a remarkable part of glory of the Greater India of old.

Abhiha, brilliant idea. I am reading some books on early symptoms of Jew hatred.. I am certain Congress and CPM are fomenting hatred against cetain communities... Eventually, they want those communities to be wiped out from India so that they can carry on with their oppressive politics.

Rajasthan is the best place to have such a museum. Lots of foreign tourists travel there. (Fortunately....) BJP is in power there. Will they entertain such an idea?

IndianPatriot,

I'm afraid this post of yours at the other post did not really get sufficient exposure, since it got pushed too quickly by Virat, mine and Mr. P's posts. I would like to repost it here. It was heartening to read it. ---Daisies.

kauntenya,
Your election analysis looked very fuzzy math to me.
1) In Gujarath itself BJP will win 20 seats. You have excluded other states where BJP is strong. Jharkhand, Orissa, Madhyapradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttaranchal, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar and importantly Uttar Pradesh and states like Assam .

2) As Mandal 1 was climaxing(1990) dynasty's slave Mani Shankar Aiyer was singing paens of Rajeev Gandhi in M.J.Akbar's Sunday until a top confidential opinion poll conducted by Prannoy Roy and ORG Group gave this survey result after BJP withdrew support to V.P.Singh.
1) BJP (245)
2) Communists (50)
3) Telugu Desham (30)
4) Other regional parties(40)
5) VP's rump Janatha Dal(40)
leaving Congress around 110 seats.
It made Rajeev Gandhi and congress scared to death and made them prop up Chandrasekhar for 6 months.
Mani Shankar Aiyar was waxing the return of golden age of Congress in one issue suddenly started writing about how rise of BJP was comparable to Hitler in Germany in 1930's due to Advani's Ratha yatra.

Back to current times, I hardly forsee congress touching 3 digits it they are stuck up with Mandal this time. My predictions for next elections are as follows.
1) BJP (210 With revival in UP )
2) Allies like JD(U), Shiv Sena, Akali Dal, AGP 55 seats.
3) Communists (50 seats)
4) Regional parties like TDP, DMK, AIADMK and BSP, SP (120 seats).
5) Congress alone struggling to reach 80 seats.

Let us see who will come right.

Lots of wishful election forecast here. You forget that Congress is about to gobble up the election commission. Tandon retires this month end, and despite BJP's attempts nobody is doing anything to remove Chavals, out and out congress man. In its current mood, Congress and CPM don't care for the constitution. BJP has no new ideas. The die, so to say is, cast!!
